Nifty Knitters

‘Tis the season for holiday knitting, and don’tcha know I’m up to my elbows in yarn and needles. I decided to rest my weary fingers and do a little exploring within SL… and look what I found!

Enterprising knitter Ida Keen has created a cute crafter’s corner within Second Life. Her store is called “Knit This” and sells scripted knitting needles, virtual knitting bags, and balls of yarn. This is the first I’ve seen of textile folk-craft offerings within the game. Ida promises future hosted knitting circles too. Her home is located just a quick jaunt from her shop (complete with a crafter’s nook and comfy chairs) and it looks like she’s set to be able to host 10-15 SL resident knitters with ease. I believe it’s only a matter of time before other crafters catch on and perhaps start to offer real-life knitting patterns you can purchase with Linden Dollars.
