First Life vs. Second Life Avatar Appearance
Published by maus December 1st, 2006 in Second LifeAn article posted to an eclectic LiveJournal community (Second Lifers) called for submissions for real life and SL photos to compare. LJ user and author kateamdahl writes,
If instead we get in the habit of assuming that everyone is showing their Real Life self, I think we invite trouble, because that’s definitely not the case! At the same time, it’s hard to go wrong with honesty when you can get away with it.
Some people do choose to make their SL avatars similar to their real life appearances. And many residents choose to have a rotating set of avatars to suit the events they go to, or the company they keep inworld. (I have a custom cuttlefish of giant proportions for sillier gatherings.)

My avatar and RL photo were among those chosen to represent those who do favor a continuity in appearance between real life and SL.
I solicited the help of my talented and artistic brother to help me create a face that is near exact to my facial dimensions in real life (including the first showing of a tiny double chin ;]).
Check out the article to see other examples of similarities and differences between residents, including the avatar of a real life transgendered resident.

Interesting - it’s tricky to get these settings correct - I wish I had some help.
Hi!
Do you know anybody that could make SecondLife avatar for me using my photos? Are there any websites people are doing it for money?
Thank you!
